EU REACH Compliance
REACH: The Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals
REACH is the European regulation of chemical substances used in industrial processes, and in products used in day-to-day life by consumers, for example, the chemicals in cleaning products, paints, clothing, furniture, etc. The governing authority behind them is the European Commission and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Kingchem supports EU REACH compliance.
REACH regulations were adopted to protect human health and the environment, but also had the purpose of streamlining and improving legislation concerning chemicals in the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries. They originally entered into force on 1st June 2007.
The ‘Only Representative’
To ensure full compliance with REACH regulations, companies based outside the European Union appoint a European-based *Only Representative* (OR) to take over the compliance tasks and responsibilities regarding REACH.
An OR is always physically located in the EU and equipped with sufficient practical knowledge in the handling of chemical substances. The OR is held responsible for complying with all the legal requirements for companies importing into the European Union.
Kingchem & REACH
Kingchem appointed an OR to fulfill our obligations under REACH many years ago. Consequently, our European customers know that Kingchem’s procedures fully align with our responsibilities under REACH, including product classification, registration, labeling, packaging, document-formatting and other requirements.
